What Is a Rehab Center
Depending on the therapeutic project, there are different types of rest and care homes to ensure the care of patients, including the rehabilitation center that we will discuss in this blog. We will come back later in our next publications on the 5 others, including convalescent home, specialized home, psychiatric rest home, a rest home for the elderly, and the palliative care units. For now, let’s take a close look at the rehab center and how it can help you.
Rehabilitation center: rehabilitating the patient
Patients may be hospitalized on a full-time or part-time basis.
The rehabilitation center is an establishment of follow-up care and rehabilitation. It can be a public or private healthcare establishment (with or without a contract).
This type of establishment has a double mission:
– to treat different pathologies,
– to reintegrate the patient into the social, family, and professional environment.
The different pathologies encountered in this type of care facility are
– polyvalent pathologies: orthopedic, rheumatological, traumatological,
– other pathologies: neurology, traumatic and spinal cord.
Who can benefit from a rehabilitation center?
The rehabilitation center welcomes and treats all patients suffering from pathologies requiring rehabilitation:
– all able-bodied or dependent people,
– high-level athletes.
Services offered by this type of center: supervision and equipment
Thanks to its staff and specialized equipment, the rehabilitation center provides
– basic services: accommodation (single room or not), meals, hygiene, and medical care,
– Rehabilitation services: they are generally individual and adapted to each case, whatever the disability.
Rehabilitation center supervision: specialized staff
The care teams are available to put their know-how at the service of the patient so that the latter can recover his faculties very quickly.
Here are the medical and paramedical staff present in the rehabilitation center:

Rehabilitation center: formalities for coverage
It is not necessary to ask the health insurance company for reimbursement if you are discharged from a hospital: the transfer is done directly by the administrative services.
On the other hand, if you are going to a follow-up care facility from your home, you will need a request for a prior agreement written by a doctor and the agreement of the social security.
Be careful, there can be long delays.
Rehabilitation center: a daily rate
The rehabilitation center can be a public or private establishment (private or not).
The daily rate covers accommodation, meals, and care.
If the establishment is under the agreement:
– part of the price is covered by the health insurance,
– the other part is paid by the resident or by complementary health insurance if the resident has one.
If the establishment is not covered by a convention, all costs are paid by the patient.
